Benjamin Banneker's literacy night was a success, thanks to the outstanding leadership of Ms. Jolley, Ms. Ebling and their committee. The evening's centerpiece was the showcase of original student writing from grades K-6.
Students were given the opportunity to read their stories aloud to family members, engage in games, and enjoy refreshments. Our school’s emphasis on student excellence was evident. The event was a truly fantastic experience for our community.

Spirit Week Day Two: Twinning Tuesday. Our students appreciated dressing like a friend, a teacher or a group of friends. What a wonderful way to show friendship 🫶🏽

Our first new KCPS construction in 30 years marches on, as we celebrated our Topping Off Ceremony for the planned new King Empowerment Center, which will include a new King Elementary, an early childhood center, and a family resource center!

From powerful student performances and thought-provoking discussions to inspiring artwork and interactive sessions, our schools have been honoring Dr. King’s legacy in meaningful ways.
As we celebrate his life and achievements, we also recognize the responsibility to keep moving forward---building on his vision to create a future of equity, justice, and opportunity for all.
Together, we’re not just remembering history—we’re shaping it.
