Mr. Wren, Vice Principal
Mr. Wren is honored and a privileged to be a part of the beautiful Banneker community. He is excited for the upcoming school year, and all the new learning that will be accomplished together. He looks forward to spending time and getting to know the staff, students, families and the surrounding community and stakeholders.
His passion is Youth Development and serving families in partnership. He believes that the academic and emotional well-being of our students is deeply connected in these partnerships. Making sure that all students have full access to the curriculum is one of his main goals.
He was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Mary Harmon Weeks Elementary, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and graduated from Central Sr. High. He has been an educator for over 20 years, working in Saint Paul Public Schools in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He spent most of his years as an administrator after teaching elementary and special education. He attended the University of Missouri in Kansas City (BA), Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul, Minnesota (BA), and the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota (Master of Education, Principal Certification, Director of Special Education License, and Educational Specialist degree).
One fun fact about him is that during his senior year in 1983, he worked for the Kansas City Royals cleaning the stadium to earn money for my senior prom expenses.
He has learned that as a school, we have strong traditions and rich diversity within our Benjamin Banneker Elementary community. His hope is to continue those strong traditions and that ALL students thrive, feel safe, are valued, connected and challenged.
